Movement Medicine
The movement patterns of fighters, used as medicine — Mon/Wed/Fri 8:00-9:00 AM with Dr. Robby Ellis, DPT.
Program Overview
Movement Medicine treats the way fighters move as a prescription rather than a sport. The patterns a fighter drills — loading and unloading a hip, rotating through a braced spine, absorbing force without collapsing, breathing under pressure — are the most efficient route we know to restore a body that has stopped moving well. Dr. Robby Ellis, DPT, spent 13+ years applying those patterns to professional combat athletes. This class applies them to you, holistically and in the right order.
The first target is joint and spine health. Not protecting your joints by avoiding load, but earning the full capacity to use your body again — hips and shoulders that move through their real range, a spine that rotates and braces on command, feet and hands that actually connect you to the ground and to whatever you are holding. Capacity is the goal; pain relief is the byproduct.
The second target is your nervous system, and it is not an afterthought here. Emotional and neurological regulation is treated as a primary outcome, built from the ground up through the systems most people never train: diaphragm and pelvic-floor synchronization, intra-abdominal pressure control, and deliberate breathing you can actually reach for under stress. You will learn to read your own autonomic state and steer it toward the state the moment calls for — up for output, down for recovery.
The third target is the mind. Dr. Ellis uses the same mental strategies with this class that he has used in a corner with world-title fighters: how to stay in a hard round, how to shrink a problem to the next thirty seconds, how to keep breathing when the plan falls apart. Those tools were never really about fighting. They work on the deadline, the diagnosis, and the difficult conversation.
Ideal For
- Anyone whose body has stopped moving the way it used to
- People carrying old injuries who want capacity back, not just symptom management
- Adults under real stress who want breathing and regulation tools that hold up
- Post-PT graduates looking for the next step under clinical eyes
- Martial artists and former athletes rebuilding a durable base
- Complete beginners — the class is built to hold a full range of abilities at once
